Farming 102: Defense Setup

Before you start actually farming it is important to have the correct base setup.

What you are looking to do is protect your resources, not your town hall. So basically, what you want is to place your town hall outside of your walls and leave it unprotected. Your storages should be located at the middle of the base and the hardest to get to. Why would you do this? Easy. Lets say you go offline for a while and you have no shield. So some noob is going to see your base and say "Omg! This guy left his town hall out in the open!". So he attacks you and takes your your town hall. This is a good thing! Since he destroyed your town hall, you now have a active shield. If your base is setup correctly, he should not be able to get much further than that. So now you have a shield to protect you for a while until you get back online. I have included a picture of my base to show what a farming setup looks like. Your setup may be different as you may have a different town hall level. There are many different designs out there, just look it up on Google.
